ಲಂಚ ಕೇಳಿದ ಆರೋಪ ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನೌಕರರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಸೆಕ್ಷನ್ 17ಎ ಅಡಿ ಪೂರ್ವಾನುಮತಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಮಹತ್ವದ ತೀರ್ಪು ನೀಡಿದೆ. The Supreme Court ruled that prior sanction under Section 17A of the PC Act is not required to investigate public servants accused of demanding bribes.
