ಬಾಗಲಕೋಟೆಯ ಸಮೀಪದ ಇಳಕಲ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಿದ್ದ ಯುವ ನೇಕಾರ ಆನಂದ್. ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕೈಮಗ್ಗದ ಕಲೆಯನ್ನು ಆಧುನಿಕ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ನವೀಕರಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಸೀರೆ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳ ಬ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬುದು ಆತನ ಆಸೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. Anand was a young weaver living in the town of Ilkal near Bagalkote. His ambition was to modernize traditional handloom weaving and launch his own distinct brand of sarees tailored for contemporary markets.
