ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಸಮೀಪದ ಕಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ಎಂಬ ಯುವ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿ ಇದ್ದನು. ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಶಿಲ್ಪ ಕಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ನಮೂನೆಯ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಮಟ್ಟದ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಕಲಾ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಗೆಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂಬುದು ಆತನ ಆಸೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. Prashanth was a young sculptor living in an artisan town near Shivamogga. His ambition was to blend modern design with traditional stone carving and win the prestigious best sculpture award at the district annual art exhibition.

His entire toil seemed destroyed, the idol was flawed, and he had no spare savings to buy another block of prime stone. "I lack precision and patience; I am destined for mediocrity," Prashanth lamented in bitter despair, dropping his chisel and breaking down in tears.
